Smoking is the exposure of, mostly, meat and fish, to smoke from burning or smoldering plant materials like wood, for the purpose of flavoring, cooking, or preserving food. Meats and fish are the most common smoked foods, though cheeses, vegetables, and ingredients used to make beverages such as whisky are also smoked.
