Grilled Pork Sandwiches
leftovers oh no!
- leftover pork roast (or chicken or beef)
- ½ tbsp. oil
- kaiser rolls
- 1 tbsp. bacon drippings
- ¾ tbsp. flour
- 1 cup chicken or beef broth
- leftover gravy
- toppings like, lettuce, cheese,
mayonnaise, butter, and onions
Start by preparing the toppings.
Then get the dipping sauce going. This was made with leftover pork, obviously if you're using a different meat, like chicken or beef, you will use butter to start the sauce. Start the sauce by melting the bacon drippings, (really great if you have Smoky Plank Bacon) then add the flour until you have a thick paste. Add the broth a little at a time until it is smooth, then add the leftover gravy if you have any. Allow the sauce to thicken a little. Keep warm. For tips and tricks, have a look at this tutorial, but you don't want a very thick sauce, more like an au jeux only not.
Preheat the grill to medium-high. Brush the buns and the pork slices with a little oil, and grill them until they’re warmed through and getting grill marks.
Pile the meat and toppings onto the buns and serve hot with the dipping sauce.
I know you've done it. You've made an incredible dinner, in my case it was a lovely pork roast, and there were leftovers. But what to do with them? Sure you can plate them up with the rest of the potatoes and veggies that you made... but what happens when you only have the meat left? I'll tell you! SANDWICHES! Yep I said sandwiches! Fresh and fluffy buns, amazing cheese, and your favourite toppings, with a gravy sauce. There is nothing better (except maybe cheesecake, or chocolate, or... ).
