3 Ingredient Chocolate Mousse
With Smoked Cream
by Andrea Alden
Pour chocolate into cream cheese
- 1 cup (8 oz.) of whipped cream cheese
- 8 oz. of dark chocolate, or a mix of milk and dark chocolate
- 1½ cups of smoked whipping cream
Remove the cream cheese from the fridge and allow it to come up to room temperature. Place a glass or metal bowl, and the beaters of your electric (hand or stand) mixer into the freezer.
Chop the chocolate into small pieces. Using a double boiler, or the microwave, gently melt the chocolate. If you melt it too hot, too fast, the chocolate will separate and become grainy.
Whip the cream cheese a little, then add the melted chocolate, whipping until both the cream cheese and chocolate are fully combined.
In the bowl that you chilled in the freezer, measure out and whip the smoked cream until stiff peaks form.
Gently fold the whipped cream and cream cheese mixture together. If they’re not combining nicely (because you didn’t use whipped cream cheese) you can use the hand mixer to combine them, however this can over mix the whipped cream and your mousse will be quite thick.
Divide the whipped delicious mixture between four dishes. Chill them in the fridge for at least one hour before serving. Garnish with fresh mint leaves, chocolate curls, and fresh whipped cream.
Add dark chocolate shavings
Whipped cream is good too
How did you customize this dessert?
This 3 Ingredient Chocolate Mousse With Smoked Cream was creamy and delicious. It’s chocolate, so really, why wouldn’t it be? It’s very easy to mix this recipe up to conform to your tastes too. Add 1 to 2 drops of mint extract for a minty-mousse, you could also consider adding espresso powder or extract, cold coffee, chocolate chips, folding in finely diced fruit, or chopped nuts. This easy recipe is filling, reminds me faintly of cheesecake, and definitely made our evening infinitely better. So, when cravings strike you, mix up this super easy recipe.
