Gourmet Grilled Cheese
In The Napoleon Flexible Grill Basket
by Andrea Alden
Basket lets the bread crisp slowly
- 8 slices of your favorite bread
- 1 cup shredded or sliced gruyere cheese
- ½ cup shredded or sliced sharp cheddar cheese
- ½ cup shredded or sliced mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup of mayonnaise
- ¼ cup butter, softened
- 1 tsp. chopped rosemary
- 1 tsp. dried oregano
- 1 clove garlic, grated
Preheat your grill to 425°F.
In a bowl, combine the butter, rosemary, oregano, and garlic.
Spread the inside of one slice of bread with mayonnaise. Top the mayo with enough of all three cheeses to thickly cover the slice of bread edge to edge. Place the second slice of bread on top. (Preferably book matched) Butter the outside of both sides of the sandwich and then place it into the Napoleon Flexible Grill Basket. Repeat with the remaining slices of bread.
Close the basket and place it over direct heat, ensuring the handles are resting across the cooking grids. This makes sure that the basket is raised above the cooking grids. This allows the sandwiches to slowly crisp while the filling melts.
After about five minutes, the bottoms of the sandwiches should be golden-crisp. Use Heat Resistant Gloves
to flip the basket and allow the other side to cook.
Serve with sliced veggies, a hearty salad or one of our delicious homemade soups
for a healthy and filling meal.
So much cheese! This Gourmet Grilled Cheese In The Napoleon Flexible Grill Basket made for a quick and delicious meal. After a huge snowstorm left the husband and I snowed in, we needed a fast meal to recharge before helping the neighbors dig out too. Not only did the gooey, stretchy cheese amuse us; we were satisfied by the delicious flavors from the different cheeses. What’s your favorite cheese to use in gourmet grilled cheese?
