Homemade Soup

Homemade Soup

with Roasted Carrots and Ginger

Posted on January 11, 2017
Homemade Soup with Roasted Carrots and Ginger is the product of my ever-increasing confidence, apparently, soup isn’t that hard to make. This particular recipe is even easier than … umm… something really easy! Okay, so it’s not as easy as using the can opener and making a can of condensed soup unless you are can opener challenged, or have one of the electric ones that never seems to work. However, this soup recipe is way easier than making our recipe for the Easiest Rotisserie Chicken Ever (and that’s a super easy recipe).

Maple Dijon Roasted Carrots

Maple Dijon Roasted Carrots

on the Grill

Posted on November 16, 2016
I’ve made these Maple Dijon Roasted Carrots a few times. It is the dish most often requested when I offer to bring something to family functions. The relatively simple glaze is loaded with Umami flavor. Read more about The Science of Barbecue – Why Grilled Food Tastes Good to learn more about Umami. This is a side dish that adds a bright pop of color to your table. The deep roasted flavor of the carrots pairs perfectly with whatever dish you serve. You can use regular carrots, go fancy with young carrots with the green tops still on, or even get really crazy and use brightly colored heirloom carrots.  However you slice or peel them, this side dish is de-lilsh!

Smoked Coffee

Roast Your Own Coffee At Home

Posted on September 13, 2016
In preparation for National Coffee Day on September 29th, I used my grill to smoke, and roast some green-unroasted coffee beans. Yes, you too can make your own Smoked Coffee using a grill! It was a little nerve wracking at first, but once I got everything moving, it turned out to be super easy.

Pork Fatty

Pork Fatty

Stuffed With Bacon & Apple

Posted on August 30, 2016
When having a big family dinner it’s always nice to do a big roast – in this case a pig roast! Ha. On this particular occasion I found myself with a lovely butterflied roast of pork. I decided to create a Pork Fatty Stuffed With Bacon & Apple for our meal and, aside from a minor incident involving a lack of potatoes; the meal was a total success. I can hear you asking about the potato thing. I thought we had a whole bag of mini potatoes. I only had 12 to feed 8 people. Then, a few of them burned while I was cooking; Disaster! Though the meat and veggies were delicious, which made up for it.

Grill Roasted Extra Thick Pork Chops

Grill Roasted Extra Thick Pork Chops

With La Grille Roasted Garlic & Peppers Rub

Posted on February 25, 2016
You all know how much I love garlic. I love it as much as I love chocolate and cheesecake. When I got the chance to try a wet rub chock full of garlic, I just leapt at the chance. Grill Roasted Extra Thick Pork Chops With La Grille Roasted Garlic & Peppers Rub is succulent, savory, and oh so tasty! The rub melted into the meat creating this penetrating flavor full of garlic. Yum! I used a roasting technique, instead of a fast sear and then indirect heat to finish it off. That is because I didn’t want to burn anything with unpredictable caramelization of the rub. Our patience paid off though, because after resting, this meal was unbelievable.

Grilled Pork Belly

Grilled Pork Belly

with Maple & Chinese Five Spice

Posted on February 19, 2016
My husband and I were in the fancy grocery store one night. You know the kind with the butcher and baker built in; this one even has a dry aging cabinet. That’s not what caught my attention that evening. No. It was the big slab of pork belly that was calling my name. Sure, I could do what we always do and smoke up some amazing bacon, but not this time. This time we made Grilled Pork Belly with Maple & Chinese Five Spice and it was like magic on a plate!

Roasted Acorn Squash is a simple and elegant way to prepare a vegetable side for your holiday meals. It's tasty and stylish. The bright colors compliment just about anything you serve, brightening up the meal. They're a seasonal ingredient, and should be a lot easier to find in your local grocery too.

Dry Aged, Wet Rubbed NY Strip Steaks

Grilled To Perfection

Posted on December 02, 2014
Imagine, if you will, slicing into a Dry Aged, Wet Rubbed NY Strip Steak, grilled to perfection over high heat and flame. It was rubbed in a wet rub and allowed to soak in that flavour before being kissed by flame and served over a bed of grilled asparagus.

Curried Roasted Butternut Squash Soup

Curried Roasted Butternut Squash Soup

Perfect On A Cold Day

Posted on November 25, 2014
What a perfect day for soup. It was the first snowfall (that stuck) for the season, and to celebrate I made Curried Roasted Butternut Squash Soup. Okay so it was more for the purpose of warming our fingers and toes. It did, however, provide a lovely backdrop for the meal, and the photographs. I was inspired by how much I enjoyed the Creamy Butternut Squash Pasta and wanted to create a warming winter soup using similar ingredients and techniques.
