Lemon & Blueberry Cake

Lemon & Blueberry Cake

A Fresh & Spring-y Dessert

Posted on April 12, 2017
This Easter season, try a light and fresh Lemon & Blueberry Cake for dessert. This confection tastes as good as it looks, and boy does it ever look good! The light lemony flavor of the cake pairs perfectly with the tart blueberries. The cream cheese icing just makes it all even better. I served this to finish off a beautiful family dinner. Everyone made room for this cake after eating their fill of dinner - and whomever you serve this too, will as well. This cake is so ideal for the season; it even smells like spring.

Gingerbread

Gingerbread

Make a whole village of cookie people

Posted on December 14, 2016
Gingerbread is an integral part of the holidays, like lights, trees, and hot chocolate. Ever since I started working on this blog, I have wanted to do one thing. Make a Gingerbread Grill. Yes, a Napoleon Grill made of Gingerbread. My husband, a total genius, did the math and plotted out the parts, but in the end, the project was far too ambitious. The grill would have stood well over 24-inches tall! Instead, we opted to go with the more traditional Gingerbread Men, who turned out beautiful, delicious, and festive in their red jumpers.

NOTE* - You will want to use a stand mixer for this recipe unless you are very strong and have a lot of stamina. The dough gets pretty stiff near the end.

August 26th is National Banana Split Day so we made Grilled Banana Boat Sundaes and topped them with all of the best treats available. These delights are easy to make, and look really nifty when they're all ready. The best part is that the only things required for this recipe are the bananas. Everything else is optional. Build these at a sundae station next tot he grill for added fun, or prep them ahead of time for a fast and yummy dessert.

Planked S’mores

Planked S’mores

with Homemade Marshmallows

Posted on August 10, 2016
National S’mores Day occurs every 10th of August and this year we wanted to take part by making something extra special! Planked S’mores with Homemade Marshmallows! Homemade marshmallows are rich, fun, and surprisingly easy to make. Turning them into s’mores seemed like the logical next step. Making S’mores on the grill, even more so. Dazzle your friends, family, and guests with these sweet treats. It takes about 45 minutes to make the marshmallows themselves; the trick is having the patience to let them set. Once set, it’s the work of a moment to get these beauties grilling for an amazing dessert of ultra homemade S’mores.

Strawberry Stuffed Brownies

Strawberry Stuffed Brownies

in Mini Cast Iron Skillets

Posted on July 27, 2016
I may be on some sort of brownie kick. Does two brownie recipes in 3 months constitute a kick? Anyway, I made these Strawberry Stuffed Brownies in Mini Cast Iron Skillets because I had just made fresh strawberry jam. Somehow this very precise jam recipe made extra on our last batch and we ran out of jars. I just had to use it for something super special, my homemade strawberry jam deserves it. So what goes better with strawberries than chocolate? NOTHING!

Peanut Butter M&M Cheesecake

Peanut Butter M&M Cheesecake

With Brownie Crust

Posted on December 02, 2015
After Halloween, we somehow managed to have candy left. I needed to make sure that it was used in a manner fitting of such strong, warrior-like candy. It survived being eaten for over a week after the costumed children came to pillage! Not to mention that this house contains not one but TWO chocoholics! Anyway, as a fitting memorial of our first Halloween with trick or treaters, and candy that survived longer than a week, I made this prestigious, layered confection of Peanut Butter M&M Cheesecake. It was good.

Peaches And Cream Cupcakes

Peaches And Cream Cupcakes

With Peach Drizzle

Posted on August 25, 2015
It's peach season. It's CNE* season too. Summer is winding down, not that this prevents me from grilling in any way, and in homage to both peach season and the CNE, I have made a portable and peachy dessert that you will love. These Peaches And Cream Cupcakes With Peach Drizzle, were light, and sweet, and definitely easy to make.

*CNE is the Canadian National Exhibition, Canada's largest fair, with the best and most wackiest street food, rides and vendors from everywhere. It's a big deal.

With Cheesecake Ice Cream

Posted on June 30, 2015
It's strawberry season. I guess that's my favorite holiday. YES it should be a holiday. And there should be holiday dedicated to bacon, and one for cheesecake too. But I digress. These Strawberry Quesadillas With Cheesecake Ice Cream are insane. And by insane we have blow your mind, melt your brain, oh my gosh that's delicious, and what the heck was she thinking all wrapped up in a delicious tortilla, then tossed on the grill with fresh chocolate STUFF (somewhere between a sauce, and a ganache and a chocolate shell), and all of the strawberries. Oh yeah, then we topped it with HOMEMADE cheesecake ice cream.
