Salmon Teriyaki

Salmon Teriyaki

On The Grill

Posted on August 05, 2015
I need to eat more seafood. That's a fact. Salmon is still my favorite fish. It's meaty and hearty, fills you up. Being in a mood for Japanese one night, I decided to make Salmon Teriyaki On The Grill. It turned out fantastic. Paired with Vegetable Tempura, we had a meal made in grilling heaven.

Garlic Fingers

Garlic Fingers

Dough Sticks of Garlicky Goodness

Posted on July 24, 2015
Garlic Fingers, you know those cheesy, garlicky sticks of dough that you get for extra money with your pizza? Well now you can make them at home! It's super easy and makes pizza night even more authentic. Dip them in extra pizza sauce if you have it, but salsa or bruschetta mix will do just as well. Now that I have a craving... excuse me. I need to make me some more Garlic Fingers.

Butter Chicken Pizza

Butter Chicken Pizza

Give Your Pizza An Indian Flavor Infusion

Posted on July 21, 2015
Leftovers are a glorious thing. They allow you to take bits of your favorite food and turn them into something else, something that can be amazing, or a disaster. This Butter Chicken Pizza is one of those cases where amazing happened. I made Butter Chicken for the grill and wound up with a little left over. Not enough for a full meal or even a work lunch, but enough that I didn't want to just waste it. So the following night I made Quick Pizza Dough and fired up the grill. Added a little extra pizza sauce to the leftover butter sauce and voilà! Butter Chicken Pizza.

Goat Cheese Pasta

Goat Cheese Pasta

With Bacon And Grilled Asparagus

Posted on July 07, 2015
Left to my own devices one evening, I had nothing planned for dinner,  and nothing but scraps in the fridge. It sounds like I never have any groceries, I swear I do! Anyway, that is where this all started. Goat Cheese Pasta With Bacon And Grilled Asparagus is a conglomeration of my craving that evening, and what I happened to have left over after making Stuffed Bison Burgers and Goat Cheese Vanilla Ice Cream. I love grilled asparagus, and I love bacon, so adding the two of them to a creamy pasta sauce was a no brainer. I hope you enjoy this easy and pretty quick gourmet meal as much as I did.

Apple Cider Spareribs

Apple Cider Spareribs

With Sticky Cider BBQ Sauce

Posted on July 02, 2015
Apple Cider Spareribs are perfect for the 4th of July, which also happens to be National Sparerib Day. These babies are sticky, and boozy, they're shiny, and snackable too. I really enjoyed eating these ribs. They're pre cut for you so, there's none of that knife play that you usually have with a big 'ol rack of back ribs (not that I'm complaining about ribs at all...ever). This recipe came about when I realized that the smoker was out of order for the weekend. We went to the LCBO (liquor store) for a bottle of Kraken. I saw the cider and was hit in the back of the head with the shovel of inspiration. Why not braise the ribs with some of the cider, and make a sauce out of the rest? Don't forget to leave a little to drink with the ribs too.

Bacon Wrapped Onion Rings

Bacon Wrapped Onion Rings

With Shōchū BBQ Sauce

Posted on June 17, 2015
Bacon Wrapped Onion Rings With Shōchū BBQ Sauce, I guess I could have shortened it to just Smoke Rings, but then you wouldn't know what I was talking about right? These are smoky, sweet, and the barbecue sauce adds that little extra kick.

It was quite the comedy of errors when I went to make these. They were supposed to go on the Goat Cheese And Mushroom Stuffed Bison Burgers, but that didn't happen. I got a call as we were leaving to go to my Mother's, she had forgotten to tell the Grandparents what time the party was at. So, that was great because it gave us the extra time to smoke the onions. So we arrived and immediately went about trying to set up a dry place for my TravelQ™.  There was loads of space on the deck, but you couldn't see it for the sheets of rain falling.

With the TravelQ™ set up on a wheelbarrow and warming, I prepped the smoker tube and placed the rings. Not ten minutes later, the Grandparents arrived early, and hungry, for our little party. Off came the rings and on went the burgers instead. And the tube had just started smoking too. Sigh.

Brisket Burgers

Brisket Burgers

With Broccoli and Brusseles Sprout Slaw

Posted on May 20, 2015
May 28th is National Hamburger Day. It's also National Brisket Day. Though I think we should just call it what it really is - National Holy-Cow-Beef-Is-Delicious Day. What do you think? Anyway, I had loads of leftover Foil Roasted Brisket and I just had to make Brisket Burgers With Broccoli and Brussels Sprouts Slaw with them. These burgers are stuffed with chunks of Havarti cheese and chopped brisket, and topped with even more brisket. I made this super crazy cole slaw, but used broccoli and Brussels Sprouts instead of traditional cabbage, then I put the slaw on top of everything. Trust me you won't even need ketchup!

Mediterranean Lamb Pita

Mediterranean Lamb Pita

With Pistachio Pesto Wet Rub And Greek Yogurt Sauce

Posted on May 14, 2015
A mouthful in more ways than one, these Mediterranean Lamb Pita With Pistachio Pesto Wet Rub And Greek Yogurt Sauce were absolutely delightful. Even the picky ones enjoyed this meal. I was dubious about the pistachio pesto to begin with, it tasted like it needed something, was missing something, but when we slathered the lamb bites with it, the pairing turned into heavenly morsels of meat. The runny greek yogurt sauce was flavored with garlic, dill and a little lemon pepper for a hit of tangy, garlicky goodness. All of this was piled onto a steamed pita (they're more flexible) and you had some sort of Mediterranean lamb taco thing happening.

Margarita Curd Cheesecake

Margarita Curd Cheesecake

Perfectly Balanced Sweet And Tangy

Posted on April 29, 2015
Part of celebrating Cinco De Mayo is having a fantastic dessert to go with your amazing meal. I was going to do some sort of "Mexican" food like a quesadila or chimichanga filled with fruit and chocolate, but I had all these limes and tequila, and let's face it, you know my opinion on cheesecake. So I made Margarita Curd Cheesecake instead. First of all I was quite inspired by a dessert I taste tested at Costco a few weeks back and fully intended on recreating - a lemon curd, crumble topped cheesecake pie, and with Cinco De Mayo around the corner too, I had all the stuff to make a rockin' lime curd. Well I added tequila and things got a little out of hand, and into my mouth. You have to make this delicious, creamy dessert.

Sweet Garlic Dry Wings

Sweet Garlic Dry Wings

With Spicy Dip

Posted on April 21, 2015
I've done sticky, saucy, and even spicy wings, but I haven't done dry wings since the Lemon Pepper Wings a while back (they're really good by the way you should try them). These Sweet Garlic Dry Wings With Spicy Dip have a caramelized coating of garlic and brown sugar that is at once salty and sweet. Then you dunk it in a creamy dip that you think is going to be something like buffalo ranch, but you're blown away as a spicy mixture of sour cream, sriracha and sambal olek tackle your tongue.
