Kahlua Chocolate Cake

Kahlua Chocolate Cake

with Strawberries & Cream

Posted on February 22, 2017
Kahlua Chocolate Cake with Strawberries & Cream was created in celebration of National Kahlua  Day and National Strawberry Day. How fortuitous is it that these two things would share a dedicated day. Mashing the two of these delicious flavors together was far easier than I had imagined. The sweet fresh strawberries, creamy icing, and dense cake come together for a flavorful dessert that is at once hearty and light.

Cherry Pie

Cherry Pie

On The Grill

Posted on February 14, 2017
Pi such an irrational number; it needs to be told it is special. That’s why there are so many days of the year dedicated to Pie. That is also why I made Cherry Pie On The Grill! National Cherry Pie Day is coming and instead of making lame math jokes, make yourself a delicious pie on your grill instead.

Homemade Soup

Homemade Soup

with Roasted Carrots and Ginger

Posted on January 11, 2017
Homemade Soup with Roasted Carrots and Ginger is the product of my ever-increasing confidence, apparently, soup isn’t that hard to make. This particular recipe is even easier than … umm… something really easy! Okay, so it’s not as easy as using the can opener and making a can of condensed soup unless you are can opener challenged, or have one of the electric ones that never seems to work. However, this soup recipe is way easier than making our recipe for the Easiest Rotisserie Chicken Ever (and that’s a super easy recipe).

Apple Crumble

Apple Crumble

with Ginger Infused Maple Syrup

Posted on January 11, 2017
The best thing about being an adult is that you can eat whatever you want for dinner. The other night, neither of us felt like eating a meal, meat and potatoes, pasta, nothing at all sounded good. You know what did though? Apple Crumble with Ginger Infused Maple Syrup. Fresh apples, sweet maple syrup with spicy ginger, and cinnamon, and top it all off with fresh ice cream for a delicious meal… I mean dessert!

Homemade Hot Sauce

Homemade Hot Sauce

With Roasted Garlic & Cayenne

Posted on January 04, 2017
It’s become a tradition to make hot sauce as a holiday gift for friends, and my Homemade Hot Sauce With Roasted Garlic & Cayenne was a huge success again this year. This sauce isn’t overly vinegary, instead relying on the intense cayenne pepper for punch. Easily adjust the heat of this recipe by subtracting hot peppers and adding sweet bell peppers, which also bulk up the sauce without watering it down. The roasted garlic and blistered skin of the peppers add a hint of smoke to the finish, giving this hot sauce flavor along with the heat.

Grill Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Sweet Potatoes is a serious sounding side dish. Nothing goes better with a family dinner than The Best Roasted Potatoes Ever, these bites of potato are at once crispy and fluffy. Imagine a caramelized crunch, seasoned to perfection, breaking away as you bite down, to reveal the fluffiest, most perfect potato on earth. We had a little time to wait before these were served and it was very hard not to sneak a few (like all of them). This is a recipe that will make Great Grandmother proud, and be handed down to your children’s children!

Pfeffernüsse

Pfeffernüsse

German Gingerbread Cookies

Posted on December 21, 2016
I made these cookies to celebrate National Pfeffernüsse day. When I read that there was a day dedicated to Pfeffernüsse, I got thoroughly excited. You see, my cat - whose name is Hubert, is nicknamed Pfeffernüsse. I don’t know how it happened, or when, but there you have it. He’s round and white and brown, much like these cookies, not that I knew what they were until I saw that there was a date dedicated to this uniquely named confection. Pfeffernüsse or German Gingerbread Cookies, are delicious, fragrant, spicy, and sweet. They’re ideal for celebrating the holiday season, when a little extra warmth is always welcome.
