Turkey burgers are a healthier way to have that burger and eat it too.
In a frying pan or on a skillet, caramelize your onions by melting the butter and laying the slices of onion down flat in the frying pan. Sprinkle the sugar over the onion. Fry for about 10 minutes until they are golden brown, tender and fragrant, stirring frequently. Chop the caramelized onions.
In a big bowl put all of the burger ingredients. Mix well with your hands.
Form the meat mixture into equal sized patties, about ¼ inch thick. Lay them on a piece of waxed paper and refrigerate them for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
Preheat grill to medium high, about 450°F and cook them for about 2 to 3 minutes per side.
Serve with havarti cheese, buns and your favourite garnishes like Avocado Salsa.
Slice your avocado into a bowl, carefully, you don’t want guacamole. Add the torn up cilantro leaves and the chopped red onion. Squeeze the two halves of your lime over top to get the juice, (it’s okay if there are lime bits too) and then grind some fresh pepper over top. Give it a quick toss and serve immediately or store in the refrigerator.
