    • 2 tsp. vanilla
It was not hard to eat all of these delicious french toasts up. We really enjoyed this breakfast. I am thinking that I should try a savoury version of this recipe. What do you think? Leave a comment below and tell me what you think would go into a savoury version of Stuffed French Toast On the Grill.

Stuffed French Toast

Serves: 4       Total Time: 25

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of your favourite crusty bread
  • 1 pint of strawberries, cored and sliced, or use your favourite berries
  • 2 to 4 bananas, sliced
  • 1 cup of cream cheese, softened, better yet, use the new Philly Chocolate
  • 4 eggs
  • ½ cup of milk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla

Directions

Step 1
Start by slicing your loaf into ¾-inch thick slices. You want them really thick.
Step 2
Carefully slice a pocket into one side of the piece of bread, like you would for a chicken breast or pork chop that you were stuffing. The opening can be a little larger if you need, but don’t slice all the way through (like in my images) or you will have trouble keeping the bread together while cooking.
Step 3
Spread the inside of the slices of bread with your cream cheese and stuff them with berries and bananas.
Step 4
Oil your grids and preheat your grill to medium-low, about 250 to 300°F.
Step 5
Whisk the eggs together, add the vanilla and milk. Coat both sides of the stuffed slices with egg mixture, allowing some to soak in to the bread.
Step 6
Grill the slices over direct heat for about 5 minutes per side, or until the bread is slightly crunchy and golden brown on both sides.
Step 7
Serve with your favourite toppings like powdered sugar, more berries, jam, and syrup.
Dinner is not the only thing you can make on the grill. I made breakfast on the grill this weekend, Stuffed French Toast On The Grill is oh so tasty and decadent. Not entirely healthy really, but tasty? Sure is! Take your favourite things like berries, banana, cream cheese and such, shove them into a really thick slice of your favourite kind of bread, (If you haven't guessed what kind I used, I will be very surprised), and soak it in egg, then grill it to cooked perfection.
