Mushroom Sauce

Mushroom Sauce

Make Your Own

Posted on August 13, 2012
There is a certain pride that comes from making something yourself. Be it bread, or bacon, or even your own condiments. When you do something yourself, you can be sure that you know what is in it. You can say “I did that,” and it is a great feeling.

Jerk Chicken

Jerk Chicken

with Shmeer Jerk Porter Sauce

Posted on August 07, 2012
Did I mention how good this was? The scent was amazing, even the cats were wandering around sniffing and asking for some! After supper we were so satisfied and content with that finish, the husband and I were seriously just sitting there and randomly “mmmmhhhhhh”-ing! SERIOUSLY! I can’t wait to try the other bottle that we got, the Chipotle Dark Ale! I think I want to do ribs or a roast with this one!

This recipe turned out better than I could have imagined. In fact someone begged for the recipe the day after I made it! I wrote it down in haste and ended up giving them the only written copy. Fortunately she copied it for me and emailed it back, so now I can share it with everyone. Hope you enjoy it!Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Try different kinds of nuts to mix things up, let me know how it goes!

Grill Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Grill Roasted Sweet Potatoes

with Grand Marnier Butter

This luxurious sweet potato dish goes well with anything cooked with an orange flavour, like the Honey Glazed Pork Tenderloin. What a decadent way to make dinner something a little more rich.

Grill-Roasted Baby Potato and Green Been Salad

Grill-Roasted Baby Potato and Green Been Salad

With Cheese And Onions

Posted on July 23, 2012
This salad was a surprise. It was garlic-y and hearty. Each ingredient added its own little something to make a very tasty whole. I may even suggest serving it warm, but leave the cheese out until serving so it does not melt. Unfortunately this salad only lasts 3 days in the refrigerator, so eat it quick.

Breakfast Muffins

Breakfast Muffins

with Peanut Butter, Bananas and Oatmeal

Posted on July 23, 2012
These are very good. And don’t they look lovely on my Victorian Cupcake Stand? I know what you’re thinking, though, “Yes they look great on those adorable stands…but Sultana, there’s no oil or butter in these muffins!!” Do not fret my friends! There is! The peanut butter has a high oil content. It is replacing the butter or oil that you would typically use in baking. Although I recommend that you eat these muffins warmed with jam.

So, you obviously do not need the baguette if you are serving this as a side dish, but the bread does complete the meal if you are serving vegetarian. I hope you enjoy this taste of summer as much as I do.

Leftover mushroom soak water is great as an additive to broth or flavoring for soups and sauces and even makes an especially tasty base for gravy.
