Beef Jerky

Beef Jerky

On The Smoker

This jerky was incredible. I have gone from someone who was turned off by the mere sight of this dried meat substance, to someone who very much enjoys jerky. Only thing about this recipe is that I find it a tad on the expensive side. Eye of round is a reasonably expensive cut of meat. For ours, it was $20.00. If that doesn’t bug you, then this is the recipe for you. I guess time could be a cost prohibitive thing as well, but if you use the smoker at the cottage when you have nothing doing but a dip in the lake and a good book, or beer and buddys are a good idea. It’s definitely worth the time and money for this beef. Oh yeah, and if you have buddys there… the jerky will be gone as soon as it’s cool enough to eat. So be sure to squirel some away for later!

Sun tea is a great way to make custom drinks for that hot summer day. The kids can help and it's really quite good for you. You can add as much or as little to it as you like, and there are few preservatives. It's just plain good. Experiment with the kinds of teas you make it with. Mi Pho #1 Marinade

Mi Pho #1 Marinade

Asian Style Marinade with A Kick

Posted on May 27, 2013
Mi Pho #1 Marinade is a fantastic marinade for everything from Beef to Chicken, Fish and Pork. It's spicy, but not too hot that you can't taste what you're eating. If you're not a spicy person, you may like this, just drink a glass of milk with your food.

Big Juicy Rib Steak

Big Juicy Rib Steak

With Frizzled Onions

Delicious. The recipe says that it serves one, but seriously, this could serve at least two people. My husband and I were quite content after dinner. Of course I made two smaller steaks, and even had leftovers, but you can totally get away with getting a whopper of a steak and sharing…if you can. I recommend having something light and chocolatey on hand for later, a mousse or a chocolate drink, you will want it.

Maple Glazed Duck Breasts

Maple Glazed Duck Breasts

With Maple Green Beans

Posted on May 13, 2013
The duck breasts are a saltier meat, and benefit from the sweet of the maple. The beans complimented the meal and finishing with potatoes was just natural. The crispness of the duck skin was magical. And like I said, this enticed a proper lady to pluck and nibble with her fingers when all was said and done. So you know it’s that good.

Did I mention how GOOD this cake was?  Quite enjoyable. Next time I think I will double the icing recipe. It covered the cake alright, but it was a thin layer. There was so much cake too! It could have easily fed 12 people. It was divided between four of us. I have also been told that the lemon curd is quite tasty on salmon. Let me know if you have tried it. I am curious.

Boneless Pork Ribs

Boneless Pork Ribs

A Quick and Easy Meal

Posted on May 06, 2013
With the weather as nice as it was, this was a fantastic way to spend an evening. Eating boneless ribs in the sun with friends, nothing could have made that better. This meal, like I said, came together quite fast and left me with time to spend just relaxing. I used Maple Bacon Barbecue Sauce for these. Seriously the best sauce ever. I make it in double batches just to have lots extra. What is your favourite sauce for ribs?

I had to triple my recipe, but if you get a big bag of Cheese String snacks and use it, you will have enough to satisfy an army.
